BuNo 2289 flying near a residential area, probably in San Diego, on 1940-Sep-06.
If you look closely, you may be able to see the rear-facing, high-back chairs in each blister. But no matter how closely you look at this re-sized image, you can't see the red dot filling the star centers. These were removed early in the war because they were often mistaken for "meatballs", resulting in friendly fire.
